The business challenge
An office supplies business needed an end-to-end system spanning its day-to-day operations and online sales. The scope connected EPOS, sales, purchasing, stock, customer records and finance, alongside contract-specific pricing and B2B and B2C retail.
The commercial priorities were practical: reduce rekeying, make ordering faster, improve stock accuracy and reporting, and support different buying arrangements online.
What Justin led
As project lead at Seriun, Justin led a team that grew to up to 10 people. Delivery spanned several years, approximately 2008-2011, with around 30 users working across the resulting business system.
The application brought together counter transactions and back-office functions with web orders and supplier integration. Online contract pricing supported business customers, alongside B2C and B2B purchasing.
What improved
- Less rekeying across business processes.
- Faster ordering.
- Improved stock accuracy and reporting.
- Online pricing for individual contracts.
- B2B and B2C online retail as part of the wider system.
These are qualitative outcomes described by Justin from his experience leading the project. No percentage saving or financial return is claimed; the dates and user count are approximate.
The lesson for today
Business software needs to work across the whole process: how an order arrives, who handles it, which price applies, what is in stock and how it reaches finance. That experience informs Fortuna Pace’s approach to understanding the workflow before choosing the technology.
